Mike Bond

Mike is a highly skilled adjuster who specialises in business interruption, catastrophe and environmental responses, and major and complex global loss. His work has involved high profile losses at celebrity homes to major catastrophes, such as the Buncefield disaster. Such varied experience has given Mike the opportunity to design and deliver bespoke services to his clients whilst maintaining pragmatic relationships.

He has a keen interest in developing junior colleagues in the profession and indeed the wider market, frequently lecturing on a range of topics. He is media trained and adept at dealing with the national press, TV and radio.

Mike entered the insurance industry in 1980 and moved into the loss adjusting profession in 1987. He relocated both temporarily and permanently in response to claims surges driven by natural disasters and to take advantage of career development opportunities.
Between 1996 and 2002 he lived in Dubai for three years and then Riyadh where he concluded many multi million pound losses across a range of perils, CAR, EAR and financial losses almost exclusively for state owned enterprises and multinational concerns. Such claims often involved complex political considerations and/or multiple parties with differing responsibilities and interests and he grew especially adept at deriving proactive solutions for his clients. Returning to the UK in 2002 he has since handled high profile, high value losses ranging from celebrity homes to destroyed factories at Buncefield to flooded out and fire damaged housing estates. He works proactively with third parties and doggedly pursues recovery opportunities.
As the former head of property claims for a UK adjuster with specific responsibility for their major and complex loss offering, he is keenly aware of the client’s perspective, how to design and deliver bespoke services and maintain pragmatic relationships. Always keen for a fresh challenge Mike chose 2007 to begin a degree in Banking, Insurance and Risk Management. Undeterred by the floods, he graduated with First Class Honours. He joined Vericlaim in 2010.
