Damian chairs the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters (CILA) Business Interruption group, and has previously set business interruption examinations for the CILA. He regularly runs financial loss seminars throughout the UK and is a published author on the subject of business interruption, including co-chairing a widely read report on BI wordings issued by CILA and the IIL/CII (Chartered Insurance Institute).
Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG in 1986, Damian had experience of forensic, insolvency, general audit and special investigation work prior to entering the loss adjusting profession in 1993. Since then he has dealt exclusively with large and/or complex financial losses, representing both policyholders and insurers, and acting as an expert in commercial disputes. He has provided evidence in litigated cases for over a decade and has appeared in court as an expert witness. Damian has dealt with a wide range of fraud (including employee theft) incidents including Listed and World Heritage sites and public sector losses, as well as commercial incidents (fire, floods, thefts etc) and contractual disputes across a wide range of industries. He deals with claims in the United Kingdom and overseas. As both a Chartered Loss Adjuster and Chartered Accountant he has experience of practical loss mitigation as well as the retrospective assessment of losses arising.
