Launch of the CILA’s final report on business interruption wordings

The Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters (CILA), in association with the Insurance Institute of London (IIL), launches its final report on business interruption wordings Business Interruption policy wordings – challenges highlighted by claims experience. This report follows the Business Interruption Wording Review Initial Report in May 2010 and is part of an ongoing review of business interruption wordings. Read more

Adjusting to mediation

Adjusters will often find that claims on which they are instructed will become the subject of mediation whether it is in relation to disputes on policy liability, third party liability or subrogated recoveries.

An adjuster can sometimes be expected to participate in the mediation hearing to assist in resolving the disputed claim. It is, therefore, important that the adjuster understands not only the process of mediation but also the approach and attitude of the instructing principals to mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) generally.
